I'm just bored

I got on the play CA last night and no-one was on, got on to play BC2, and there were several in there. I realized something after I gave up fighting my connection... I am just bored with the current games.

I think I am going to switch to an RTS for a little while, at least until another good fps comes out. I checked out Command and Conquer 4, I like it. I also like the Star Wars game The Old Republic, but I don't think it comes out till next year...

It just seems to me all of the FPS games coming out now fall very short of what I expect from the franchises. I really miss Tribes and BF2. If true PC FPS are dead in lue of Console crossovers, I may be done. They are just too limited and not engaging enough. I really miss the days of Eidelon and Fat Guy named Bob dropping bombs on me as soon as I get near a tank, and of the total pwnage Clownz would wreak with the chopper.

Whats an RTS?

I was on for a bit, but had to deal with things for a while. Kwik was in with FO and Sombre playing BC2 for a while, but with my ping I just couldn't hang. It was like being FO, and that I just cant handle.

I'll agree that the current offerings are sorely lacking and very shallow. Tribes was a great game, but really what made it fun for me was the competition play, having dedicated positions of defense, mid field and offense. I remember the days when our defense failed and having tony boy playing engi mid field make the most fantastic rail gun shots to stop the cappers.
Playing Katbatic and having jubee and hades downstairs in heavy with mortars going off everywhere.

For me it can be any game where we all are playing together as a team, and that comes from competition play which I don't think is going to happen again, sadly. BF2 was great for just that reason.

SWTOR is an MMORPG and Pay to Play. Unfortunately, it also looks like one of those games that I would definitely get hooked to.

Yeah, I was looking at it some more last night. SWTOR definitely looks like a cool game, but it also looks like something that could completely consume your spare time. I may not get it for the same reason I never smoked pot, I have a very addictive personality and I know it.

Same reason I won't touch wow. That and I'm not Ghaleon, which I personally thank God for every day I wake up.

Last thing I want is to be blaring into a headset: "Use your level 4 Force lightning you nubcake!"
